Who are we?

Paper Forest is led by Andrew Duff, who loves anime and the fans who support it. He thinks there’s a niche in the market for professional quality, small run printing services for the artists who share his interests.

What kind of printing equipment do you use?

Official Answer: Paper Forest uses professional standards such as a HP Indigo Press S2000, HP DesignJet 5000, and a galvo laser, depending on the product.

What you really meant to ask:
You're not printing this out of your basement, are you?
Andrew's Answer: What? Certainly not! I live down there, the fumes would kill me! No no, we’ve got a factory with employees and everything. Paper Forest utilizes an Indigo S2000 printer. It’s totally professional and worth like a bazillion dollars. That means everything we make for you is of the highest quality. I don’t want to name any big companies who use our machine, *coughNASAhack* but rest assured that your artwork will come out looking great.

Why are there minimum orders?

Official Answer: We are promoting a way for artists to sell their work to their fans at the cheapest possible cost for everyone involved. Without minimum orders it is impossible for us to afford this business model.

If you want to order individual items for your own purposes, there are many other online businesses that provide such services at higher prices.

What you really meant to ask:
Uh, I want to order just one sticker, but it says I have to order at least five sheets. That's hundreds of stickers! Why can't I get just one? ;_;
Andrew's Answer: Well, we’re here to help artists sell professional quality artwork to their fans. You’d be happily surprised to learn how very little Paper Forest makes on each order, which means that if we let you print one, Andy gets to spend hours slaving away at the factory to what amounts to the minimum wage in China. Not only is that bad business, but it also means I’ll eventually starve to death. Why do you hate me? ;_;

But seriously, don’t make me get into fees. Set-up fee? Laser fee? Duck fee? By setting a minimum order, we get to offset those charges and cut way down on how much you pay. If you really want just one of something, hey, go ahead and send us an email about it. Just don’t be surprised if the bill isn’t what you were expecting.

On the same note, if you want to order a lot of something, the price goes down. Shocking I know, but we love money and we love to help you give it to us! To be honest, we’re pretty sure none of you don’t have bathtubs full of cash lying around, but if your order starts to climb to 1000 of any item or so, expect a discount. And just maybe, freshly baked cookies.

I’m making a minimum order. Can I have a different image on each sticker/poster/print/etc?

Official Answer: No. The set-up time involved makes it unfeasible.

What you really meant to ask:
Andrew's Answer: Ooo, you clever little monkey! I thought this question would be automatically answered by how the order form page doesn’t let you do any such thing, but this is still by far the most popular question I get, right behind if I’m single. The answer is no, and the explanation harkens back to how very little money we make on orders. Set-up time on the Indigo printer and the laser mean that multiple images for a minimum order equals a giant headache for me to set-up, and more importantly, an instant cash loss. The reason Paper Forest can offer such incredibly cheap prices is because we offer the smallest orders we can afford to run.

Can you send me samples/pictures to make sure everything looks all right before I get my final products?

Official Answer: Yes, Paper Forest wants to make sure your products come out exactly as you intended. Because of the delay and cost involved in sending out actual samples, for minimum orders we would be happy to take pictures of your product.

Please note that if your image is at an unacceptable resolution, we will contact and warn you of the issue before printing the product. No refunds will be given if you still want to continue the order with no changes and are unhappy with the final product.

Andrew's Answer: Certainly! We’d be happy to take a picture of a sample sheet of your product before we do the final run. Because of the nature of the printing business, we can’t realistically provide refunds if there’s a quality issue, so we want to do everything we can to ensure you get the product you want. Remember, when you blow up an image, there will be pixelation, and we will send you a warning email if we think it’s starting to look fugly. As long as your image is big enough though, the printing will come out in excellent quality.

I’d like to place an order using copyrighted artwork that I didn't create.

Official Answer: No.

Andrew’s Answer: Come on, you know that'll get you AND us sued. Our lawyer hasn't passed the bar yet. Sorry.

Is fan art acceptable?

Official Answer: As long as the artwork falls under fair use and/or parody laws in your country.

Paper Forest reserves the right to decline any order that we feel doesn’t follow the law, and if this is the case, we will provide you with a full refund.

Andrew’s Answer: Hooray for gray areas! Paper Forest takes it under good faith that any fan art you submit falls within your country’s parody use laws. There’s a disclaimer on the order page that states that you take full responsibility for anything you submit to be printed, which means if a big company comes chasing after you for violations, yeah, uh, have fun with that.

Are pornographic images acceptable?

Official Answer: No.

What you really meant to ask:
I’ve got some great so and so fan art, and they’re doing this thing with a cheese grater that you wouldn’t believe!
Andrew's Answer: No. Nononono! Paper Forest doesn’t print anything of a pornographic nature. If you want to see how far you can push the bar, contact us, but if we’re talking full on, cheese grater style hanky-panky then Paper Forest isn’t the company for you.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Official Answer: Order turn around is generally about 15 business days. If you want your order sooner, please contact us and we'll see if this is possible.

Andrew's Answer: You’d be amazed at how long it takes to calibrate the laser. I’m not even kidding! The bigger your order is, the faster we’ll be able to get it done. We’re pretty busy over here, and simply put, a lot of small orders takes lots of time and effort to keep us afloat financially. If you need your order done quicker, send us an email and we can discuss it. You’d be amazed what I’ll do for money. ^_~

Do you ship worldwide?

Official Answer: Yes. There is currently a flat shipping fee of $6.50 per order.

Andrew’s Answer: I know, so cheap! Aren’t we awesome? Hint: Yes, we are.

What is the preferred DPI and size for an image I submit?

Images should be around the actual size of the product you want, and at 300 DPI. They should be saved as either Photoshop, Illustrator, or jpeg files. Your best bet for sending us very large files is to upload the image to your filespace and link us to it.

I have more questions, where do I send them?

Official Answer: Please contact questions@paper-forest.com for any other inquiries you might have.

What you meant to ask:
I've got more questions. How's your customer service department? Do they suck?
Andrew's Answer: Luckily for you, I'm the customer service department. Right now, Paper Forest is a really small company. As cheesy as it sounds, we're dedicated to answering all your questions and giving you top rate service so you'll come back. We're not a faceless corporation. Every order we get is one we're grateful for.
